    1The challenge

Stichting SBN has to account for spending and results to parties that each ask in their own format. Every request was assembled by hand from exports, and each time somebody had to reconstruct how a number came about.

That cost time, and it made the organisation dependent on the few people who could do the reconstruction.

    2Our solution

We recorded the recurring terms from the reporting as agreements: definition, source, calculation and owner. Those agreements live in the governed layer, not in a spreadsheet.

Reports draw their numbers from there, so a request becomes a selection instead of a new build. Access is arranged per role, with a trail of who requested what and when.

    3The results

Reporting became repeatable: the same definition yields the same number every quarter, and its origin can be pointed at. The dependency on individual knowledge is gone, and the time that went into building now goes into the substance of the report.
